Remarks I purchased a plane at Oshkosh (for delivery in January 2003). When I get the plane, it will not have an engine, radio equipment, and none of the gyro instruments. Now I have a re-building project. After considering several choices for the new engine, I have decided to put a Mazda rotary in the plane. I have been heavily influenced by the work done by Tracy Crook. The rotary engine looks like an ideal candidate for the BD-4.

This is the unfortunate result of my last landing error. Plane was a little high and I reduced power with the intention of getting a little lower. I didn\'t lower the nose quickly enough, and the plane began to stall. I hit hard on the tail and began bouncing badly. I then attempted to do a goaround (bad decision). I left the runway on the north side, then the south side, and after a short distance plowing through the weeds, either the prop hit, or the landing gear caught on something. The plane stopped suddenly doing a 120 degree rotation. When the plane came to a stop, the right landing gear was on the left side keeping the pilots door from opening. The left landing gear was a short distance away.

I was slightly bruised but in pretty good shape all things considered.
